VIDEO: Renovation of the Krammersluizen complex
- 29 September 2026
Located in the Philipsdam near Bruinisse, the Krammer Locks Complex is the largest concrete structure ever commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat. The extensive complex comprises two locks for push-tow vessels and two locks for pleasure craft, at the boundary between fresh and salt water. More than 60,000 vessels pass through each year.
After almost forty years, the complex is undergoing a major renovation. It is a complex undertaking: multiple lock chambers, buildings, pumping stations, lock gates and a movable bridge all form part of one project. Meanwhile, shipping continues as usual.
The renovation is being carried out by BESIX and its strategic partners in the ZEEKR consortium, in close cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat. This brings together a range of specialist expertise. Commissioned by the ZEEKR construction consortium, INNOCY is one of the parties contributing to systems integration.
